Designing Your Website

This blog is set up to act as a resource for people who have been to my seminar
Designing Your Website
Things Every Business Owner Needs to Know
The purpose of the seminar and therefore this blog is to give small business owners a place to go for information on website design. In working with many small business owners over the past few years I’ve seen that the whole process of getting a site up and making it work for the business is a mystery for many. It’s a big intimidating topic and running a business is hard enough!

Here’s the 1st and most important piece of advice – none of this happens without input and content from the business owner. You cannot give a designer a deposit, walk away and expect a site to magically appear. You can pay other people to write content, take pictures, design a look, determine the functionality, but you are the director. It’s your vision, your business and your money. Pay attention, be part of the process, do your best to understand the details. The more involved you are (and no I don’t mean micro-managing over people’s shoulders), the more the site will reflect you, your business and really work the way you want.

The resources that were discussed, are available on the pages to your right. Be sure to check out the resources, glossary and don’t forget to keep a login form for yourself!
